ABOUT PLYMOUTH WHITEMARSH ICE HOCKEY

 

Thanks for your interest in Plymouth Whitemarsh Ice Hockey (PWIH). This information is provided to give you a general overview and guidelines regarding our dynamic organization.

Organization- PWIH is a non-profit incorporated organization.   Parents, guardians, and interested individuals make up the Board of Directors which are elected annually. Each team's head coach and a parent representative from each team sits on the Board of Directors.  All fees and fundraising money is used for the benefit of the players.   For the continued success of the club, active participation by all members is necessary.

 

Eligibility- Teams compete at the Varsity, Junior Varsity and Middle School Levels.  Middle School players must be residents of the Colonial School District and High School players must be students of Plymouth Whitemarsh High School. Varsity players are chosen from grades 9-12, JV from grades 8-12 and Middle School from grades 5-8.  Exceptions to these rules may be made based on approval by the Board.  Team assignment will be based on the coach's evaluations held in early September each year. Our goal is enough players to support a Varsity, JV, and Middle School Team.

 

Coaching- The goal of PWIH is to provide a dedicated and skilled coaching staff for all teams.  Although winning is important, building and refining hockey skills, sportsmanship and teamwork are essential in the development of the player, team and organization.  The coaches will coordinate their efforts to allow each member of the club to develop to their full potential. Uniforms & Equipment- Varsity, JV, and Middle School players are responsible for providing their own protective equipment in accordance with USA Hockey Guidelines including mouth guards.  Each player is also responsible for their jerseys and socks both home and away.  These are available for order and purchase at Sports Unlimited at the Plymouth Meeting Mall.  No two players will wear the same number; board members have a list of available jersey numbers.

 

Registration & Fees- Fees for each year vary and are determined by the cost of the practice ice, league fees, and the size of the club.  Registration takes place over the summer and requires a deposit of $100. Players will have an opportunity to reduce their fees by participating in various fundraising activities. Both checks and credit cards are accepted. Fees for the 2006-2007 season are: High School $1,050 and Middle school $800. Practices are Sunday's from 7:20 PM to 8:50PM.

 

League Affiliation- Plymouth Whitemarsh Ice Hockey is a member of the Suburban High School Hockey League. All Varsity home games will be played at The Rink at Old York Road in Elkins Park. All Middle School games are played on Sunday evenings at …….. 

 

Practice Ice- All practices will be held at The Rink at Old York Road.
